Historical "news": Club Ranking 1952

With the scores of the games included in the database for 1952 (comprising portuguese games played already in 1953, but accounting for the season of 1952), in a total of 647 games, a Ranking has been calculated for club teams at the end of the year.

Historical "news" - 5


In 1952 the Honour Cup of North of Portugal (Taça de Honra do Norte) has been won by Académico FC, a team of Porto. Final classification was:

This was the first competition in the year 1952 in North of Portugal. After this competiton, the Regional and National have followed the World Championship held in Porto, in that year.

Historical "news" - 4

In November 1950, 6 teams decided the Portuguese title: 3 from the South, HC Sintra, CD Paco de Arcos and SL Benfica, and 3 from the North, Infante de Sagres, Académico do Porto and AA Espinho. HC Sintra won for the second consecutive year, with the following table:

Historical "news" - 3

After the spanish civil war, the competitions resumed with new teams. The most important team was Real Club Deportivo Espanyol, from Barcelona, winning the Spanish Championship in 1944, 1947,1948, 1949, 1951, from 1954 to 1957 and 1961 and 1962. During this period, RCD Espanyol won several Regional Championships in Catalunya, the most important competitions in Spain, at that time. Other relevant teams were Reus Deportiu, FC Barcelona, CH Girona, GeieG and Club Natacion Reus.

In 1952, RCD Espanyol got another title in Catalunya. Here the Final Classification:

Historical "news" - 2

The official competitions in Catalunya started with the creation of the Federacion Catalana de Hockey sobre Patines, in 1930.

In that year the Regional Champion was Skating Club de Catalunya, followed by Skating Hockey Club.

In 1931 the 1st category competition had 4 teams, and the final table was:

The team of SC Catalunya was the strongest team in Spain till the spanish civil war. After that, the teams normaly competing disapeared, and other clubes entered the competition, mainly from Barcelona, Girona and Reus.

1956:

In 1956, just after the World Championship held in Porto, at the end of May, beggining of June, an International Tournament has been held in Lisbon: the International "Taça de Lisboa", with the national teams of Portugal, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. The results of the games were:
