SL Benfica European Champion

The team of SL Benfica got its first European League title, after beating 6-5 FC Porto in the Final game held at Porto. The game ended with a 5-5 score, and a golden goal of Diogo Rafael gave the victory for the team of Lisbon.

This is the first time after 22 years, that a Portuguese team wins the European league. Last time, was in 1990/91, with the victory of OC Barcelos.

Pedro Gil (ASH Valdagno) was the best scorer of the European League with 22 goals, followed by Jordi Bargalló (HC Liceo) with 15, Gonçalo Alves (UD Oliveirense), Carlos Nicolia (Valdagno) and Reinaldo Ventura (FC Porto), with 13 goals each.
